Similar to Survivor, the American version of the semi-live game show is often viewed as the official start of summer. I made a bit of a name for myself on YouTube when it came to my Big Brother title designs and I’ve made several BB-related videos since my MySpace gaming days, most of which can be seen below. My designs incorporated concepts from the actual televised intros created by Design on the Fly near Los Angeles, California, as well as my own visual elements. Some of them featured the actual themes, while others featured covers that I created.
Fantasy Big Brother USA Opening (2007)
Made with Ulead GIF Animator and edited with Windows Movie Maker, this was created fresh off the heels of Big Brother 8, one of the show’s most popular and controversial seasons.
Fantasy Big Brother 14: All-Stars (2007)
Made with Ulead GIF Animator and edited with Windows Movie Maker, this was created after re-watching all of Big Brother 7: All-Stars and also Big Brother 6, which is held as the gold-standard of the American Big Brother franchise. This is one of five related videos.
MySpace Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Big Brother 1 Background Test (2008)
Made with Ulead GIF Animator and edited with Windows Movie Maker, this was created for my planned Real World/Road Rules Challenge and Big Brother crossover. This was also during the fall of MySpace, therefore the game never came to fruition. It would have been my final foray into ORG (online reality gaming).
MySpace Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Big Brother 1 Placeholder Test (2008)
Made with Ulead GIF Animator and edited with Windows Movie Maker, this intro utilized placeholders for where the players’ profile pictures would go. This and the above are part of five related videos.
MySpace Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Big Brother 1 Trailer (2008)
With animations created in Ulead GIF Animator, this was one of my first edits in Sony Vegas. This trailer was posted as a casting video in several of the ORG forums on MySpace. I had five seasons of the game planned, all of them having different twists in the gameplay. Try saying “Real World/Road Rules: Big Brother 4 Rules” ten times fast.
MySpace Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Big Brother 1 Tile Pattern (2008)
This was the updated version of the original RW/RR:BB1 design…
MySpace Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Big Brother 1 Alignment Test (2008)
…as well as its unused counterpart.
By 2009, the videos began receiving attention from the public. YouTuber HappyMe001 wanted me to design a trailer and intro for his ORG, and returned for me to design a casting video for season two that I modeled after the game show Press Your Luck. All of these videos were created in Sony Vegas 7, with help from Ulead GIF Animator.
HappyMe001 Big Brother (2009)
After a long hiatus, I launched a new design in Sony Vegas for the 13th season premiere on CBS in 2011. This spawned another design for an ORG at Blogspot.com. These were also the first videos in which I used a cover version of the catchy David Vanacore theme song.
The show’s intro was tweaked in 2012, and the theme song, used since Big Brother 6 in 2005, was remixed once again. I created the following as a result through Maxon Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects, edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
This design was created while weathering Hurricane Isaac.
Big Brother 15 (2013) is almost unanimously viewed as the worst season in Big Brother history, possibly including the international versions as well. But I still managed, that year, to take nearly every American Big Brother title design and mash them together, creating another for a Minecraft game hosted by YouTuber pss817.
Those final two have led to countless requests for fan intros. I declined them all.
